Hey!
This past week had its ups and downs. In the
beginning of the week it seemed like every appointment we had fell
through. It was super boring. We ended up calling a member and asking
them if they needed any service. They had us go over and
move rocks to make a fire pit. Oh that was fun! They are preparing for a
stake Cub Scout camp that they will have on their property.
Things picked up later in the week. On Thursday
we went to the Salvation Army and helped at the food shelf. There was a
really less active member (he doesn't consider himself a member) that
we got to work with. He has been staying up in
Pine River at a halfway house and came down to be with his parents for a
while. He is very smart and knowledgeable. He has been studying a bunch
of religions. He even asked us for a paperback copy of the Book of
Mormon. He is trying to figure out religion
and God and has some crazy theories. He came to church with his parents
as well. It was good to see him there.
We went up to Pine River as well. Whenever we go up there is when we get the most accomplished. We got up there Thursday
night we ate dinner really quick then headed over to sister Liane’s
home to mow her lawn. She has been in really bad
health and can barely move without pain. There was about 8 of us that
went to mow it. We got it done in about an hour. I was trimming with a
hunk of junk German trimmer that lasted about 10 minutes then didn't
want to start again. I pulled on that cord again
and again and again. My hands have gotten quite soft doing missionary
work. My callous turned into a blood blister and then ripped off no
fun.
Friday
we went out and visited Brother Cochran (he isn't a member). He lost
his wife in March and since then has lost 2 horses and is about to lose a
dog. He is super down in the dumps. Nothing in his house has changed in 3 months
everything
has just collected dust. We are going to go over and help him out this
next week. We are going to get his horse corrals up so he can bring them
from California and not lose anymore of them and we are going to clean
his place.
We also visited Cleona and Michelle. Michelle is a
recent convert and Cleona is a returned less active. They are on brother
Oettels home teaching route so we went with him to home teach.
We also met with Samantha. We think she finally finalized her baptism date for July 9th.
We are just about done teaching so we are going to focus on getting her
into member homes so she can get to know people in the ward.
We met a former investigator named Scotty. He only
has one arm. He wants to come to church this next week. He survived a
really bad car accident and wants to find what God has in store for him.
That's the update!
Love you all! Have a great week.
