Hey Family!
I am currently writing this on a Metro Transit Bus. Things here have been going really well, especially with the warmer
weather. Once it gets above 32 degrees here everyone is out and about.
This week we have talked with so many people
it has been amazing. It has also been really weird, we have met quite a
few drunk people. When we were down at Union depot we watched 2 drunk
guys trying to play ping pong. The crazy's are starting to come out with
the warm weather.
On a better note. We went back to teach Leroy.
Leroy was a media referral we received a few weeks ago. He requested a
copy of the Book of Mormon. After a week he had already read 20 chapters
of the Book of Mormon. He had a bunch of questions
for us. He mentioned how impressed he was the these 2 19 year old boys
new so much about Christ and his Gospel. He really wants to come to
church the only issue is that he is in a wheelchair and can't drive
himself to church. He has a van but no one to drive
it. We are going to try and see if we can get a member to drive his van
for him. While we visited him he asked us a lot of questions and wants
to learn more.
We also went back and contacted some former
investigator's. One of their names was Leroy as well. I met him a couple
months ago but we never really taught him. We stopped by him yesterday
and he took us right in and started telling us his
life stories and asking us questions about God. His philosophy is that
if anyone comes to talk to him about God he is going to listen to them.
We taught on the plan of salvation and the restoration. He already had a
copy of the Book of Mormon and he even point
d out that it said "Another testament of Jesus Christ" and then told us
"why wouldn't I read it!" That is really exciting to hear.
Transfers are coming up next week. It is a little
scary. My next transfer could be my last area. It is amazing how fast
time has flown by while I have been on my mission. I am excited to see
what these next few months have in store for
me.
We had our Zone training on Friday
with President Forbes. He focused his training on the NAC (as he always
does). Other mission leaders gave trainings on Urgency, Faith,
Diligence, and Consecration. "Diligence is urgency with a smile".
The take away for me was we have to be give every ounce of passion and
every conscience thought to this work. We need to put of things we did
back home and push of things that won't affect us while we are here. We
are in the season and need to be working our
heart out.
Things in the District are going great, there is a baptism on the 5th. I will have my first baptismal interview tomorrow so that will be interesting. The missionary work here will be changing and speeding up with the snow going away and
the sun coming back!
Here is the quote from studies this week:
“Converted means to turn from one belief or course of action to another.
Conversion is a spiritual and moral change. Converted implies not
merely mental acceptance of Jesus and his teachings but
also a motivating faith in him and his gospel. A faith which works a
transformation, an actual change in one’s understanding of life’s
meaning and in his allegiance to God in interest, in thought, and in
conduct. In one who is really wholly converted, desire
for things contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ has actually died.
And substituted therefore is a love of God, with a fixed and controlling
determination to keep his commandments.” - Marion G. Romney
Have a great week everyone!
